My name is Yong G. Peng, MD, PhD, and I鈥檓 a professor of anesthesiology as well as the chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia in the UF Department of Anesthesiology. I鈥檓 also a joint associate professor of surgery with the Department of Surgery.
In addition to my faculty roles, I serve on BOB体育鈥檚 Infection Control Committee and Quality Improvement Projects Task Force. In 2013, I was elected to be a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography and in 2018, a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. I am certified by the National Board of Echocardiography for Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE).
I鈥檓 a member of multiple professional anesthesia societies and my research interests include hemodynamic monitoring and management of complex cardiovascular procedures, as well as TEE simulation and education. I鈥檝e been honored with a number of awards over the course of my career, such as the T.W. Andersen Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award and the University of Florida College of Medicine International Educator of the Year Award.
I joined the department as an assistant professor in 2002. I received my medical degree from Xian Medical University in China and my PhD in neuroscience from the Medical University of South Carolina. I completed my anesthesiology residency here at the University of Florida and a cardiothoracic anesthesia fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
