Brighton Beach is NYC's best kept secret but not for long.
Condensed
history:
at the 1800's Brighton Beach was the glamour's summer splashing resort
for Manhattan's upper crust. The well to do have build it's mammoth boardwalk
That was designed for fashionable strolling and elegant carriage rides.
All came to an end When the subway's were build in the late 1800s. The
easy and cheap subway ride have flooded the
exclusive resort With commoners who could afford the beach like the rich.
The working class have caused the socialites flee from Brighton Beach.
Coney Island amusement park (famous Ferris wheel, etc.) was build to entertain
the said working class. All summer houses that used to belong to the rich
were winterized and converted to year around dwellings for the working
class who were eager to live in the summer cottages of the fleeing rich.
Brighton
Beach economy was not recovered until The recent Russian Immigration to
the area. Real estate business is booming and NYC'ers who are envy with
the Russian booming success are in the process of reclaiming the jewel
of a beach right in NYC's back yard. The mammoth boardwalk have Russian
table cloth restaurants, beach umbrella's, black and white waiters and
the boardwalk accommodate thousands of Russian strollers every summer
night to do their social
"cha cha" all summer days and late nights. Brighton beach is an official
NYC beach with life guards, municipal parking and rest rooms.
Why
SplashFests
?
With the extreme right on the rampage to trample women everywhere women
have to be stronger then ever. The lesbians community is fragmented to
a fault. So many issue'isms women forget to celebrate who they really
are. NYClesbiansfun@yahoogroups.com have no "agenda" or issu'ism of any
type. All we want is to better lesbians qualities of life, boost lesbians
culture and economics and above all have some fun. We are not a whining
group - just doers.
Shmoozing and abolishing singl'hood and coupl'ettes isolation is our Nobel
cause. Please be part of our fun times.
SplashFest
2003 :
All you need to attend humor and one NYC subway token. If you are smart
you probably ask yourself, Why only one token? The answer is very simple:
There is great likelihood that you will get a ride back to someone else's
home in their make shift U-Haul. :)~. We want more lesbians marriages
then the Moonies have :)
OUR GOAL:

Why is it that Woodstock hetro festival was so successful at a muddy cow
land of a farm? Can hetros do better then us?
NYC and the Tri State have the best location in the world to do the SplashFest
2003. sunny beach, mammoth boardwalk and beach. Restaurants, public restrooms
and parking. It is official NYC beach with life guards!!!
Splashing is awesome at Brighton Beach for two reasons:
1- it is a bay.
2- lots of jetties.
The bay and jetties make the beach into one natural huge swimming pool.

Beach Gay Bay # 2 every Sunday from 3 PM. At 6 PM we go to the boardwalk's
Russian restaurants for a sunset dinner. Please join us.
HERSTORY
FOR OUR NEW LISTER'ETTES :
www.NYClesbiansFUN.com is an "off shot" from our 1998 beaching and dinners
at Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, NYC.
Our beaching is booming and girrlz meet for beach party - dinner every
Sunday. 3-6 PM splashing/shmoozing, 6 PM dinner on the boardwalk's tablecloth
Russian restaurants.
Our summer weekly news letter cover our beaching mini adventures, schmoozing,
frolicking and many other socials. Past issues are available.
Many friendships and lustships were/are ignited at the beaching.
Any support, advice or Internet discussion is welcome.

Stay on the back car (if you come from Manhattan). Walk back on Brighton
Beach Ave to Coney Island Ave, where you will make a right and, voila;
Coney Island Ave ends at the board walk. Once you are on the boardwalk
and facing the ocean, please turn left. Continue left until you
pass the life guard station and the bathrooms (below the boardwalk). There
you make your way across the sand toward the shoreline. You will see a
jetty that divides Bay # 1 & Bay # 2. You will see a small rainbow
flag and us. Very important...

What an amazing mailing from so many of you wanting to participate in
the
lesbian theater/arts festival. The mixture of a theater and arts festival
has awakened the zzzing lez muses, enthusiasm and roaring lets to it!
The responses have come from far away and one woman will join us all the
way from Montana!**** You go girrl :)*****
MORE GOOD
NEWS:
"Expose Yourself" theater/arts festival
is materializing and spreading
it's wings into a real production and we need to plan it right. In all
probability we will include famous lesbian writers, performers,
artists, musicians etc.
THE ACTION:
Currently we are scouting different theaters, grants, sponsors,
philanthropists etc. The festival will be moved to the summer time for
all the obvious reasons (need I mention rain, snow and freezing weather
:)?
WHY A SUMMER FESTIVAL?
The summer will open different options for the festival. Above all it
will enable our atende'ettes to lick hot melting lollipops (we have
candy licking experts :)~ wearing shorts and T shirts instead of
wearing goulashes and licking frozen "bon bons" :)~
LEZ OPPORTUNITIES GALORE FOR
INTERESTED WOMEN:
GET INTO THE FESTIVAL'S HOT CORE OF DECISIONS MAKING, PRODUCTION AND VOLUNTEERING
(yes, we are planing to do this festival on a yearly basis :)~
PRODUCERS - ACTIVIST OPENINGS
We will need several producers for each field of expertise as listed
below:
1- theater production of all aspects
2- casting and scouting talent
3- stage managers
4- coordination and more.
READERS:
1- Be a part of the decision makers that will decide which plays / poetry
/ writers are in,
2- The basic premise of the festival is fun (no political "dogmas"
please): 80% fun plays (hope we can find so many, ha ha ha) and 20%
others.
3- Yes, there will be international lesbians playwrights in the festival.
4- You do not need to be a playwright to be in the deciding group.
5- If you are a book worm or a theater addict with a healthy sense of
humor and a good dose of Politically Incorrect views,
we are looking for you.

ARTS:
If you are a connoisseur of the arts: painting, sculpture, graphics,
etc., and posses knowledge, discriminating taste and sense of real
talent with elegance, please go for it. :)
MEDIA:

Any interesting lez street performers such as clowns, jugglers etc.
SPORTS:
Get in shape: If you are recruiting women for any sporting activities
/ events you are welcome. Just do it :)
