A delegation from Qalqilya, Palestine, met with College of Medicine officials during a tour of the McKnight Brain Institute on May 20, 2011. The visit, arranged by the Sister City of Gainesville Inc., was one of many intended to allow the visitors to learn more about life in Gainesville. Here, Dr. Ramez Abdallah, medical director of the Qalqilya Municipal Hospital, looks at a custom-made magnetic coil used in very high resolution MRI scanning with Joanna Long, Ph.D., a UF associate professor of biochemistry and molecular biology. Also on the tour (from left) were Dr. A.J. Barhoush, a vascular specialist from Ocala, and other representatives from the Sister City delegation from Qaqilya, including Yousef Odeh, director of education, Marouf Zahran, deputy minister of civil affairs of the Palestinian National Authority; and Qalqilya Mayor Samir Dawabsha.(Photo by Jesse Jones/University of Florida)
