Description
A College of Medicine Faculty Professional Development Series Workshop. All HSC Faculty are welcome to attend.
In academic medicine, faculty members frequently are confronted with ethical issues that relate to patient care, the conduct of research, or even matters of general professional conduct. Resolving these issues sometimes proves difficult, as there may be legal or institutional policy considerations (in addition to the ethical ones) that affect how a faculty member can or should proceed. This session will identify some of the ethical issues that faculty members in academic medicine face, and discuss a framework for analyzing, evaluating, and resolving these issues.
Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
- Identify ethical issues that arise in academic medicine
- Discuss a framework for analyzing and evaluating these ethical issues
- Discuss possible solutions for these ethical issues
