Description
Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is a global campaign to increase public awareness for brain research and to educate the community about the brain. Every year, the North Central Florida Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience (NCF SfN) participates in BAW by hosting various events at the University of Florida and the local community.
Throughout the week, chapter members visit local elementary, middle, and high schools to educate students about the brain. This includes interactive activities and lessons to give students a basic understanding on how the brain works. We also host visiting students at the University of Florida during the week of BAW. If you are interested in volunteering, contact our BAW Outreach Coordinator, Nicola Rutherford, at [email protected].
Every BAW, the NCF SfN also hosts an annual conference at the University of Florida free to all students, faculty, and staff. This conference includes a poster competition, panel discussion, data blitz, and invited keynote speaker. For more conference information, please visit the 2016 Chapter Conference Registration tab.
