Description

Heres a brief update on the which will be held on Wednesday and Thursday next week (May 30th & 31st) here in the McKnight Brain Institute. As in previous years, there will be Tech Lectures, Software Training Classes, Vendor Exhibits, and System Demonstrations. And as always, all of the events are free, and everyone is encouraged to attend. Attending vendors include all of the major bioresearch microscope companies, dedicated in vivo imaging system manufacturers, suppliers of imaging reagents, camera & optics suppliers, as well as reps from several UF imaging core facilities. For more info on this years Imaging Expo, you can visit the Expo webpage at:

Software Training Classes - Seats for the free software training classes are filling up. Please remember, there is limited space in the room, and if the classes max out, seating priority will be given to those who have pre-registered. You are still welcome to show up even if you did not register, but if the class fills up you may be out of luck. These classes will be given by the tech reps from the respective companies, so this is a great opportunity to receive training from (or ask questions of) the software experts. Please note, there is no need to register for the Expo lectures, only the software training classes. For info on class times and registration, you may view the software class flyer here:

We have several new imaging software classes available this year, heres the complete list:

  • Axiovision (Zeiss)
  • Elements (Nikon)
  • Image Pro (Media Cybernetics)
  • LAS-AF (Leica)
  • QCapture Pro 7 (QImaging / Photometrics)
  • Spot 5.0 Advanced Imaging (Spot / Diagnostic Instruments)
  • Volocity (Improvision / Perkin Elmer)
  • Zen (Zeiss)

System Demonstrations - Weve added an additional system to the demo list since my last announcement (see the complete list below). You are welcome to bring your samples to try out on the various systems. The demo systems may be in place for as long as a week before and after the expo. For demo dates, locations, and additional info, you may view the demo flyer here:

  • Leica TCS SPE Personal Confocal (Laser Scanning Confocal)
  • Nikon Ti-E based Laser TIRF System (Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence)
  • Olympus VivaView System (dedicated live-cell time-lapse imaging)
  • Olympus VS120 Slide Scanning Microscope (aka Virtual Microscopy)

Tech Lectures - There will be seminars on various topics including, new fluorescent labeling technologies, in vivo imaging, and state-of-the-art microscopy techniques. Also covered will be CCD/sCMOS camera advances, and new Ultrasound, PET/SPECT/CT, and EM imaging techniques. For more info on seminar topics and times, you may view the Expo flyer here: . No registration is necessary for the lectures.

Vendor Exhibits - Over 35 reps from various microscope, camera, reagent, and other companies will be on hand in the MBI conference room both days to discuss and advise on their products, techniques, and services. For the full list of vendors, check out the .
