I graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine, as a member of the Junior Honors Medical Program, in 1986. I completed my residency in neurology under Dr. Frank Yatsu at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston in 1990, after serving as chief resident. Following my residency, I completed my fellowship training in electromyography and neurorehabilitation at Harvard Medical School Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in 1992.
I have been on the faculty of the UF Department of Neurology since 1992. My research interests include neuromuscular disorders and the investigation and treatment of brain disorders with transcranial magnetic stimulation. Clinical interests include nerve and muscle disorders and neurology in general.
In addition to my UF appointment, I also serve as the medical director of the RR&D Brain Rehabilitation Research Center and the chief of the neurology service at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center.
