Lesbians Gay Expo at the Jacob Javits convention center

The expo take place on:
Saturday, March 22, 2003 |11am-7pm
Sunday, March 23, 2003 | 12noon-6pm
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center
38th & 11th Aves | New York City

A: The Lesbians and Gay Expo at the Jacob Javits convention center (march, 22-23 ) expect 20,000 + visitors in 2 days !!!
(it's mobbed, the  largest expo NYC ever had)
Bird's eye view:
CLIT"rature to Broadway: promoting GLBT Fine literature, erotic/sexy/comedy/ sketches/theater etc. all uplifting material read/act by either the writers themselves, or pizzazzy - flamboyant shamelessly flaunting actress/actors and MC'ed by equally flashy talents.

Purpose: Promoting lesbians - Queer writings, readership, net working, gigs, arts, music, theater and instant claim to fame.
How is it done?
Calling for "pearl'ish" writers , Readers/performers (cabaret)
* Sexy'licious dressed (skimpy very ok :)~ fems , butches, body builders outrageous costumes, Shorts, G string while reading literature, is a attention getter and fabulous new way to present literature.
* MC'ing: A flamboyant MC will keep the performing rhythm going on. Do the presentations ... more ... wit & pizzazz, und  glamour to make it one of a kind  show's hit (Parties/expo) ... yet.. elegant

* CLIT"rature to Broadway, will include writers/arts by writers/artists who may not reside in NYC, which will be presented by Flamboyant fun creative readers/actors to introduce their work. Ideas/suggestions/sponsors wanted.
Self promoting Theater groups are most welcome.

Time slots at the expo:
so far: 45 minutes one time slot. 10 minutes for 4 acts each day. (2 days, total 8 pieces). Pay back:

The gay bay # 2 got it's name  from yours truly, after learning from aging beach
goers that 50 years ago, they were beating up mercilessly gay boyz under the board walk at the Gay Bay # 2 "just to have fun"!
Yours truly, along with www.NYCLesbiansFUN.com have reclaim the gay bay # 2, queershiness and have originated - running  lesbians beaching/dining parties for the last 6 years
Memorial Day - Labor Day
every Sunday
3:00 - 6:00 PM Splashing.
6:00 PM dinner at the ethnic boardwalk restaurant the winter garden rest. (they have been very good to us).
As of last year, with the start of SplashFest 2002 we are inviting calling all the GLBT community to join SplashFest 2003 (and on) and join our parties, and take over the
gay bay # 2 and claim it our own!
(NOTE: The number of the Gay boyz at the gay Bay #2 beach are growing rapidly).

BRIGHTON BEACH INFO: Birds eye view:
Brighton beach have beautiful mammoth size beach
(legal NYC beach-life guards - Public rest rooms - showers)
divided by bays. Starting from Manhattan beach
(Expensive family houses $$ millions) The first bay is bay # 1 and then, Bay # 2, and increasing numbers all the way to coney Island amusement park and on. Signs marking the bays are attached to the boardwalk's
lamp poles (you have to look high). Boardwalk (move over Atlantic City)
with fabulous Table cloth restaurants, cinzano beach umbrellas, canopies (Great for summer rains dinner parties) black/white dressed wait stuff serving fantastic old world Russian food and sushi.
LOCATION - TRANSPORTATION:
Centrally located, Brighton beach is "sandwiched" between NY NJ CT, reachable by Subway: Q train (walk 2 blocks), buses, cars, municipal parking lot (parking is a challenge), street parking and street meters.   25 minutes drive by taxi from Kennedy airport.
Hence, Brighton Beach naturally land itself by size, services, no waves, Free Valley ball nets on the sand (ca style) and convenience to become the largest queer beach in the world.
SHOPPING:
Off work and no bathing suit? Not to worry. Any last minute shopping needs can be met by the bargain Brighton Beach Ave. stores!
Banks (ATM), major shopping (Beach gear, food .. More) to pamper any self respecting GLBT beaching goers
CULTURAL REVOLUTION:
A bit further down of brighton beach, at coney Island a big cultural revolution is booming.  NYC is preparing for the area's renaissance.
a "modest" investment of  $650,000,000 in the new stillwel Ave. subway station to be ready at 2004 to bring in millions of people to the new baseball stadium (about 5,000 seats),  The Mermaid parades (lots of sexy flaunting) ,  and the Village voice-CBGB etc. running the Mermaids music festivals (2 huge sound stages one straight one queer), looking to restore glorious days of the past when about  2,000.000 people per weekend!!! came to the Brooklyn coasts.
as of now, only 5,000,000 travel per year!.  The changes are massive.
The real estate is  sky rocketing (over $1.500.000 penthouses are over looking our  Gay bay # 2)
Brighton Beach's SplashFest fun festivals are History-Herstory in the making. You are invited to take over the historical/herstorical Gay bay # 2,
on August  3 , 3:00- 6:00 PM, bring along your music/performing acts / poetry, comedy .. beach ball (shorts, bikini, G srting etc.) ...
to participate with SplashFest fun Festival and meet everyone :)

Sunday's Beaching dining parties:
NO reservations. Just show up. (no smoke/boom box).
FREE: Our Splashing Circle/intorductions  are free.
Dinners are optional: $5:00 minimum tip (we have huge tables)
Food is delish.
