Anthology "Tomato Soup for the Soul"
Deadline:
Unknown

Type of book:  Book of compiled short stories from Lesbians of all ages.  Similar to Chicken Soup for the Soul, but lesbian centered.  First love, first kiss, good advice, family issues, long term relationships, the first fling, coming out, finding the community, fitting in, life and times of a queer highschooler, college cliques, out in the real world, discussions around the dinner table....  Stories can be as long or short as you'd like.

Only requirement: Creative and hopefully true with general appeal that even your Grandmother can enjoy ( If she's hip enough.)

About the publisher:  Psychology Major student, Western Washington University.  transferring to University of Massachusetts - Amherst, or Smith College.

Payment:  No pay, no free trips, no fame...possibly a date with me...but I wouldn't call that payment.

Contact information:  Jersey5757@aol.com

Arise, a new publication "dedicated to the African American sexually diverse community"
Deadline:  Ongoing

The premier issue of this glossy magazine, dated November 2000, features articles ranging on topics from hate crimes to home ownership, from the US presidential election to travel in Bali, all aimed at LGBTQ African Americans.  There is a poem but no fiction (at least so far).  Lots of photographs.  No information on the frequency or the subscription price.

The publishers are calling for contributions from writers and journalists (I'm sure they don't mean to be insulting by separating us "journalists" from "writers"!)  They also need help from designers, illustrators, photographers, and people with expertise in advertising and marketing.
